Seasons Holidays continues to take an aggressive stance with customers who, in many cases, have been with them for decades, but who are now complaining and starting legal actions.
KwikChex has already approached Seasons Holidays to ask that the company lift the bans it imposed on customers who have gone public about their concerns over the increasingly controversial Keys products. So far, Seasons has not resolved this issue and continues to prohibit several of its long-term customers from taking holidays they have paid for.
KwikChex has also expressed concerns over the use of threats of defamation issued by its appointed lawyers in attempts to silence public criticism. The list of those so threatened now includes KwikChex, and we have responded accordingly.
However, another striking event has now occurred – the eviction of a Seasons customer of 25 years from their holiday accommodation midway through their holiday, after they politely and honestly advised Seasons that they had recorded a meeting with Seasons representatives. The couple, who were very distressed by their treatment, attempted to reassure Seasons executives that the purpose of the recording was solely to review the meeting content, so they could respond to what the representative was saying. However, rather than accepting this explanation, Seasons insisted that the couple had to leave the resort immediately, as they had allegedly used ‘threatening behaviour’ towards Seasons employees. The couple did all they could to assure Seasons management that no threats took place, and they wanted to continue their stay, but Seasons then stated they were about to cut off the utility supplies to their accommodation, with Seasons director Sharon Kinsella having the last word in an email by saying – “If you believe that you can continue your holiday while making baseless accusations, you are mistaken.”
Seasons – Shooting Themselves in Both Feet
There is harsh irony in this latest aggressive act by Seasons. The wife of the evicted couple, in addition to being a long-term customer, manages a Facebook group where nearly 1,000 Seasons customers exchange information. She has always insisted that the posts and comments did not include anything derogatory about Seasons – that they were about sharing useful tips and positive experiences. Now, understandably, she and her husband are furious about their treatment. She explained that she decided to record the meeting after seeing comments being made on another Facebook group by worried Seasons customers who had previously attended meetings with the company’s representatives about the end of the Seasons ‘Keys’ contracts, where people were complaining that what was being offered didn’t match what they were sold. She felt that a recording would be helpful if there were anything unclear. The recording does show that, actually, there was justifiable concern over the meeting’s content, but she was, until being thrown out, more than prepared to discuss the situation with Seasons management. Now, like so many others, these once-happy customers are seeking legal advice.
The situation continues to evolve. KwikChex will continue to seek remedies, provide updates, and answer questions from any Seasons Holidays Keys scheme purchasers.
